Installing Pergo Over Carpet

Before laying pergo it s a good idea to smooth out the concrete to make sure that you ve got the flattest surface possible for the new installation. Why not just tear up the carpet. Pergo will not fit under door. After removing the shoe molding pergo fits close to the baseboard.

Pergo can be installed directly over most hard surface flooring. Pergo laminate and locking engineered planks simply click together. If you re laying pergo over concrete remove all carpet trim and other things covering the sub floor to expose the concrete underneath. Pergo laminate and engineered flooring can be installed on any level of your home.

Pergo hardwood must be installed above grade. If you are using more than one sheet of plywood tape the sheets together at the seam. No glue no nails no mess. Plywood is highly recommended when installing over high pile carpet.

When placing plywood sheets over plush carpet lay them in the opposite direction the floor will go. Pergo floors can be walked on as soon as they re installed. You can re install the molding afterward or install a pergo shoe molding that matches the floor. Since carpet is usually plush and soft your laminate flooring would not have the support it needs to keep the locking system sturdy.

Installing laminate flooring over carpet is not recommended in most installation situations.
