Overlap 6 inches of four conductor flat speaker wire with the exposed end of the fish tape and wrap the junction with electrical tape making the junction as unobtrusive as possible. Fish tape is a tool that is often used for routing wires. The easiest way is simply to tuck the wires in under the baseboard along the walls there is a small space between smoothedge the sticks with the nails pointing towards wall and wall even better if there are baseboards which will give more gap for tuckage. I currently use cambridge audio ultra 100 which is far too big a cable for going under the carpet. Unwind the wire until it reaches the other side of the room or the location where you want the cable to emerge from the carpet.

I have no attic and no basement or crawlspace to run wires. Push one end of the fish tape or undercarpet tape under the carpeting between the carpet and pad guiding it in the path intended for the wire.
