Use two sided tape for lower grade carpet and indoor outdoor adhesive for higher grade. Coat the back of the carpet with adhesive if so directed by the adhesive manufacturer. Install a metal strip or transition molding over the carpet edge in any doorways to protect the carpet. In some cases you can also install carpet tiles over existing wood tile or vinyl flooring so long as the existing flooring is no more than an inch thick.

For the best results install carpet when the temperature is between 55 f and 95 f and the humidity is between 10 and 65. Indoor outdoor carpet is very easy to install on a prepared surface. It can also be used under hardwood laminate and carpet but this is much less common these days because subflooring is typically smooth enough for these materials many of which are installed with a different type of underlayment or pad. Before you can install carpet tiles you must prepare the existing floor.

Plywood underlayment is a thin plywood material that is most commonly used under resilient flooring materials such as vinyl and linoleum sheets and tiles. Apply the carpet adhesive to the plywood in an even layer with a sprayer brush or trowel. What s more carpet tiles can be placed over existing floors eliminating the time and effort needed to remove old flooring and flooring adhesive.
