I did doors before carbet i m with ed 1 2 off the floor but i did all the finish trim after carpet set the base and door casings gently on the carpet don t push it tight.
Install closet doors before or after carpet.
After the fact you can also use an undercut saws to adjust the trim height.
If you are installing a pre hung door and only one side is carpeting then it s easiest to cut off a bit of the bottom of the door before you install it.
Shoot a row of nails into the floor just behind where the toe kick will sit through the carpet to hold it from moving before you cut the carpet.
The top track of the kit should be centered on the header of the closet.
Holding the track in place a mark can be made with a pencil where the screws will be installed.
However we could do it.
Sliding doors can be confusing to install on carpet because instead of small corner brackets they typically are installed with track brackets that run the width of the closet opening.
If you cut the carpet only cut it back far enough to sit the toe kick on the floor just enough to where the carpet goes under it.
We have the interior doors 6 panel doug fir purchased but it would be a push to get them in before the wood floor is installed.
After cutting the jambs to length i set the hinge jamb on a 3 8 inch thick shingle butt.
I also make sure that there will be plenty of space to keep the bottom of the door clear of the carpet.
Sliding doors only let you see half of what is in there at one time.
Use a masonary or carbide tipped bit to drill thru the terrazzo floor drill slowly and keep the drill cool with small amount of water from a spray bottle.
Is it a good idea to wait until the floors are installed before installing the doors or should the doors be installed first or doesn t it matter.
Bifold doors are supported by pivot pins at the top and underside of the outermost doors.
I ve seen people reccomend both ways.
Installing bifold doors is not difficult and it should only take about an hour of your time.
But for me as a diyer it was easier to do the base after the carpet and that way no gaps.
After floors this would be a huge pain to do since you would need to pull the door out and saw the jamb.
The lower pins fit into jamb brackets that attach at the floor and.
Before the floors go in you can easily shim one end of the jamb to get the door exactly plumb.
Also maybe others are more careful but i found it s hard not to ding the floor a little bit when doing doors afterwards.
Then sit the toe kick on the proper size blocking so it sits level.
But with carpet that discrepancy is hardly noticeable.
The carpet installers will run right up to and under the trim for a seamless look.
For that reason i cut both jambs to a length that keeps them roughly 3 8 inch off the subfloor.
